Amazing DVDR Drive

I ordered an ancient ATV drama VCD site (trust me, you will laugh at me when you realized what VCD set I ordered), and found that 11 discs out of the 25 VCD set couldn't be read by almost all of the CDROM/DVDROM drive that I could get my hands on. The only one that drive that worked was a DVD Drive on my previous workplace. The model was NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD. I was shocked because NEC was not particularly great at reading strange discs, and in fact I used quite some lousy NEC DVD Drive before, but this one read stuffs that others couldn't, and that was ... quite amazing.

Samsung MiniDV VP-D323 mini review

Thanks to my friend letting me borrow her Samsung MiniDV VP-D323, I got a chance to try and see if I am ready to buy a miniDV camcorder for myself to do some simply video capture or editing work, plus doing video effect experiment like green screen and such.

I tried capturing video through Firewire port and it worked very well. Finally I proved that my firewire cable adapter was working card, and my firewire card was also working great.

I tried capture photo or video on a MemoryStick. The result was horrible. No way I can accept the quality of MPEG4 video and tiny photo captured by this gear. So the memory stick thing to me is useless. It's time to move forward and try taking video using the miniDV part ...

Still no good solution to do clean OS install with no CD/DVD drive and floppy

I learned it from the hard way yesterday that there's something serious problem creating a clean new partition with a computer (in my case, a subnotebook) with no CD/DVD drive and no floppy disk drive. Using thumb drive isn't a good solution for the sake of creating new bootable partition because the system will treate the thumb drive as a new harddisk (as C drive). Personally I much rather the system treat the thumb drive as a removal floppy drive or something like that, and not the C Drive.

So as the result, I couldn't cleanly create a new boot partition, but instead created a dual boot setting. There has to be a better way to resolve the problem.

FlyakiteoOSX 3.5 x iTune 7.0.2 = Problem

If you are using iTune 7.0.2 or above, remember to NOT installing the iTune Multiset something something plug in that comes with FlyakiteoIOSX 3.5 (the Mac OSX skin) because the render will render the iTune client to become not functioning properly.
