Successfully Loading Java game on Motorola E398 mobile phone

After struggling for a few days with my Motorola E398 trying to find a way to upload Java app/game to the phone using the USB cable (instead using Bluetooth), I finally figure out how to do it, and it was actually much simpler than what I expected.

The key is that in order to upload game to the phone from PC, the phone has to be in Fax/Modem mode. See, when connecting to a PC, my phone can be either in Fax/Modem mode or USB Drive mode, and it is set on the phone by accessing the Connection menu under Setting.

The reason why I failed to upload games to my mobile is because I have the USB Connection set to “USB Drive”. Once I have it set to “Fax/Modem”, I can easily use MIDway 2.8 to upload files to the phone.

Of course, before that, I need to use PST 7.11 (with Patch) to have Java AppLoader installed on the phone first, but that’s simply piece of cake.

So now that I get Java upload problem solved, I better start writing my Java app. After all, that’s supposed to be my whole reason of getting a Java enabled phone.
