Awesome, found a way to stop Time Synchronization

Just found a very simply way to stop the time synchronization with host and vm. All you need to do is stop the "VirtualBox Guest Additions Service". Simple as that. I got the inspiration from the change log.

Found one think that I really hate about VirtualBox: no way to turn off time synchronization

So far I was praising (Portable) VirtualBox for it's performance and portablility, but today I found out one thing that I really hate because it keeps me from doing my job: no way to turn off time synchronization beween host time and virtual machine time. Confirmed by the forum, while there is a way to do that on Linux machine, there's no way to do that on Windows machine, which totally piss me off because I need an environment that simulate date back in 2008. In fact, that's the whole reason why I do my work in the virtual environment as I don't want to screw up my system time. This is just stupid and bullshit.

Finally Gmail manager is working again, but for how long

I was having problem with Gmail Manager for several weeks. I finally did some Goggling and found this solution in this site. It worked for my portable Firefox, and I am happy now. But I wonder when this thing will break again.

(Re)Installing Windows 7 on my desktop

A few things prompted me to decide that it's time to reinstall my desktop machine with Windows 7 final edition:

  • The desktop machine was running Windows 7 Release Candidate. While that system will still survive up until March 2010, I know that sooner or later I need to reinstall the OS on it.
  • Either the Wacom tablet drive was behaving strangly, or something was wrong with the system, but when I used Sketch Pro 2010 on my desktop, like once in a while, the system will just pause for a few seconds, and then back to normal. I didn't know when it started happening like that, but it was super irritating, and hurt my creativity. When I draw, I want a totally interrupted experience. After I reinstall the OS, the problem seem to be going away.
