How to give Ubuntu write access to the local FAT32 drives

I have Ubuntu installed, and was basically enjoying it. Honestly, as long as I can access Internet, I don't have way too much complain on an OS. But one thing was irritating: I had problem opening some multimedia files on the local harddisk partition. I went to the Ubuntu forum and found someone mentioning the problem. Eventually it pointed me to page about how to config Samba. Hopefully it can resolve my problem once and for all.
