Bitchy EeePC 900

The bitchy Asus EeePC 900 died for a short while today. It's back now, but like I expected. I can't rely on this shit on any mission critical stuff. Good that it's back to do what is great at: a shitty download box.

Acronis True Image Home 10 is no longer compatible with Windows 7

Just found out that Acronis True Image Home 10 is no longer compatible with Windows 7 RTM. So in order to use Acronis True Image Home on Windows 7, get Acronis True Image Home 2009.

But to me, I choose to simply boot up the system using the thumb drive version of Acronis True Image Home 10. It's much cheaper that way.

No, even for a $99 Nintendo DS Lite

I was seriously considered getting Nintendo DS Lite since it's on sales today for $99, but after some serious considerable, I decided to pass for several reason:

  • Avoid the pitfall of buy something just because it's cheaper: Nintendo DSi, although is more expansive, is superior on all aspects (bigger screen, brighter, lighter, have features that DSL does not have). History tells me that I will always regret if I buy something inferior given that I have a choice to buy a superior product.
  • It's not a huge saving when comparing with buying the product online with sales tax.
  • I have HAVE TO have it right now since I have workable alternative. My Nintendo DS is still working fine. Not awesome, but fine.
  • I don't carry it outside my room. I could, but I almost never did.
  • I rarely play it. I only play it when I am at least and in the restroom.
  • Apple iPod Touch becomes so much better a mobile gaming platform. In fact, for places that has WiFi, it becomes my EVERYTHING. Pretty powerful and .. scary ... if I were Nintendo :-D .
So ... maybe I'll get a DSi when the price drop to US$129 :-E .

Panasonic RP-HTX7: so wanted to keep you, but you hurt me so much

I returned the Panasonic RP-HTX7 I brought to Fry's Electronic yesterday.

There are several reason why I did that. First and most importantly, Fry's charged too much. Target is selling it at $39.99, yet Fry's sold it at $49.99. Totally not cool.

But then there's another reason why I won't even buy it again online. Althought the sound quality is more than adequate consider the sub$40 price tag, the headphone was too tight to my head, pressing on the handle of my glasses to a point that I felt headache. Thus I couldn't wore my glasses and using the headphone for more than 1 hour.

However, it's worthy noticing that I made a lot of effort and attempt to convince myself that maybe I should get the headphone online. In fact I spent half a day keep trying the headphone. That shows how much I enjoy listening to music with a good pair of can.

So now I am seriously considering Grado Prestige Series SR80i Stereo Headphone. It's fulfilled by Amazon.com, so worst come to worst I can just return it.

Second Chance

Somehow I want to give a second chance o the emachines keyboard (or maybe I am still too cheap to buy a next keyboard). I was thinking, maybe it' just one of the PS2 plug that has problem. So I am using the eMachine keybaord again and see if the repeating key problem comes back again.

Cheap, problem

I was running out of keyboard last night, so I tried using the old eMachine PS2 keyboard connected to the Targus USB adapter. It was working OK for a short while until I realized that once in a while the keyboard would go crazy and start cranking out repeating key strokes. Sigh, seems like I do have to buy another set of wireless keyboard for my computer.
